Handara Gate – The Instagrammable Spot in North Bali

Handara Gate in North Bali

Handara Gate isn’t officially a part of historical and sacred place as at Lempuyang Temple but only a traditional gate that was built as a main entrance to Handara Golf & Resort.

Over time, the gate becomes so popular after visitors share their photos with gate’s backdrop on social media platform and make many peoples become impressed and interested to visit and hunt photos.

As Lempuyang’s Gate, Handara Gate was built in Balinese Architecture Style with unique decoration of traditional carving ornament. Local peoples often called the split gate as “Candi Bentar”, a classical Balinese Gateway found at entrance of temple or palace.

Lush Nature with Calm Atmosphere

Bali Most Iconic Gate

Handara Gate is on the highland (at altitude of almost 1.400 meters above sea level) and surrounded by lush green nature. There are many high trees which grow lush around the gate’s area, which they really impress eyes and add into beautiful background.

In the middle of the gate, there is a street as an access for a car and a motorcycle to area of golf and resort. The street is quiet and flanked by green grass overlays at the sides. The visitors usually pose on middle of the street for getting a perfect shot with a hilly backdrop.

Perhaps you are a solo traveller, you may ask for help to your driver or the staff for taking your photos in gate’s backdrop.

Entrance Fee of Handara Gate

For getting a photo opportunity at the gate, you must pay “Selfie Ticket” at a counter in the front of the gate. The ticket only costs IDR 30.000 per person.

Specifically for pre-wedding photography, it will be charged at different price.

The cost is proportional to impressive background you will get when taking photos. If you visit to play golf or stay in the resort, you will be no longer charged “Selfie Ticket” when taking photos at Handara Gate.

A Visitor Poses at Handara Gate

You aren’t required to wear a special dress code: a sarong and a shawl as in Lempuyang Temple because the Handara Gate isn’t a part of temple area. Just wear comfortable and fashionable clothes to you for photography.

For a great photo, you should visit Handara Gate in early morning for getting a beautiful sunrise panorama, which it is perfect to combine in your photos.

In addition, come earlier in the morning, the gate is still empty of the visitors so you don’t need to queue for getting a photo opportunity. The atmosphere is also cooler and soothing in the time.

If you are too busy to visit in the morning, you can come in afternoon as an alternative time. However, you must probably queue in a line of some visitors before getting a photo opportunity.
